POSITION
Operations Director – Full Time (Salary)

Wage Range: $37,000 to $56,000 – wage increases happen annually. This position has wage raise options based on performance and BGCY budget.

Hours: 11 AM to 6 PM, Tuesday to Saturday (plus events)

ORGANIZATIONAL STRUCTURE

This position reports to the Executive Director.

JOB DESCRIPTION

The Operations Director oversees all programing and community interaction on behalf of the Boys and Girls Club of Yukon. We are looking for a hard working enthusiastic individual who can not only maintain the high quality programing that is currently in place, but also aid in the expansion of our programing and fulfilment of the Boys and Girls Club of Yukon Mission.

 

Responsibilities Include:

  • As a member of the senior staff team, advise and aid in the Organization’s visioning and expansion efforts;
  • Be aware of the needs of Yukon youth, design programing and make recommendations to the organization to fulfill those needs;
  • Oversee all program operations (conduct ongoing evaluations, manage staff team of 6-12, quality assessments, program audits, program design adherence, basic site maintenance, maintaining communication with sites and facilitators);

  • Responsible for maintaining budget compliance within program areas and aiding in fundraising endeavors;
  • Oversee all program participant memberships (maintaining client membership information, increasing client membership, maintaining privacy and collection in accordance with policies, ensure file integrity, aid in online database entry);
  • Liaison with community in regards to Boys and Girls Club of Yukon services;
  • Maintain web based program operation information;
  • Aid in maintaining program media database (data collection, categorization, maintaining permissions and waivers and appropriate storage);
  • Maintain a program staffing plan (morale, hiring, evaluations, discipline, ensuring policy/practice adherence, scheduling);
  • Prepare and submit reports to the Executive Director detailing youth statistics, program updates, budget tallies, staffing plan updates, and other departmental recommendations;
  • Manage program volunteers.

General Associated Duties

  • Be aware of design and facilitate the delivery of appropriate service to each participant’s physical, medical, emotional and social needs, as per safety and programming policy/procedure;
  • Create a healthy and enjoyable atmosphere for members, staff and community;
  • Work as a team member with other staff/volunteers;
  • Participate in relevant training opportunities;
  • Aid in recording attendance on a daily basis to ensure all members are accounted for as per safety and programming policy/procedure;
  • Attend regular staff meetings;
  • Ensure proper opening and lock up of all facilities – if applicable;
  • Set-up and dismantle all rooms for programs and leave them clean;
  • Assist in the preparation of office correspondence;
  • Assist in office/site reception, including greeting, answering telephones, and providing general information;
  • Assist in general maintenance duties/cleaning of facilities, vehicles and equipment;
  • Other light office duties as required, including any other related duties, as requested by supervisor.

QUALIFICATIONS

The OD position requires a strong background in youth work as well as the following certifications:

  • Standard First Aid and CPR;
  • Food Safe Training – Level 1;
  • Post-Secondary Education in a of Youth Work related field of study or equivalent
  • At least five years of front lines experience;
  • Suicide Intervention Training - ASIST;
  • Valid Class 4 Yukon Drivers Licence;
  • Management, HR and Staff Supervision Experience;
  • An understanding on Yukon First Nations History;
  • An understanding on indoor gardening, and environmental best practices;
  • Knowledgeable about the Yukon Education System;
  • An excellent understanding of Social Media;
  • Current Criminal Record Check;
  • Excellent oral, written, facilitation and interpersonal communication skills;
  • Proficiency with MS Office applications and PC technology.
