Weekday Warriors Current Status

The Weekday Warriors program has been suspended.

The Boys and Girls Clubs of Yukon have been tirelessly working to transition the Weekday Warriors
program from a pilot program to a permanent and expanding program. We recently approached
the territorial government about an increase to our core funding for this purpose. Although we
received a portion of the increase we had requested, it is not sufficient to continue to offer the
Weekday Warriors program. It is with much disappointment that we must announce that
Weekday Warriors will be suspended for the 2017-18 year. This suspension will represent the
first year without Weekday Warriors in 7 years. This was an extremely difficult decision, but
our Board of Directors has determined that it is necessary if we are to preserve the standards
of care, quality and safety to which Boys and Girls Clubs of Yukon has committed. We share
your concern about the program, and have endeavored to share this information with you
in the timeliest manner that we could.

What does “suspended” mean?

Our intention is to use the 2017-18 year to find new sources of sustainable funding. Our Executive Director,
with the assistance of the board of directors, will be exploring new options with foundations,
corporate sponsorship, and new fund development campaigns. It is our hope to relaunch the program
for the 2018-19 school year.

Who can I contact to show my support for the program?

We would be very grateful to receive expressions of support. Letters of support and other written
statements are most helpful. Please send all expressions of support, and any further questions, to our
Executive Director at the following contacts:
