BGC Yukon spent over
24,000 hours directly in contact with children & youth in the last year

About Us

Founded in 1999 as the Whitehorse Youth Centre Society, BGC Yukon have been full members of the national movement since 2008. What started as a grassroots society operating out of a trailer has grown into an organization developing and leading after-school programs, Early Childhood Education programs, and other community supports for youth.

Children, youth, and families are struggling with an increasing number of social and economic pressures in the Yukon and across Canada, and the need for for personal and social development programs that support and complement community services is more pressing than ever, and our community role as
valuable as ever.

Mission

BGC Yukon is dedicated to facilitating positive developmental programming for children, youth, and families. We aim to complement Territorial and community support services by providing a safe place where children and youth can experience new opportunities, build positive relationships, develop confidence, and gain skills for life. It is our goal to support all Yukoners in evolving into healthy, confident, and connected individuals.

Our programs for children, youth, and families includes specific competencies and social methodologies.

Values

In our work with children, youth, families, and communities, all BGCs are guided by the following Core Values. These are the standard by which all BGC services are measured. Respect: We ensure that everyone - children, youth, families, volunteers, staff - is heard, respected, valued, and treated fairly.

Encouragement and Support: We encourage and support every child and youth to play, learn, and grow to achieve their dreams. Working Together: We work together with young people, families, volunteers, our communities, and government. Speaking Out: We speak out with children, youth, and families so that we can make our world better.
